Abstract
Demography can be defined as the mathematics of groups of people aimed at analysing the changing size and composition of human popula- tions. Populations change primarily through three factors: fertility, mortality and migration. Recently, there have been efforts to expand this model to “multidimensional demography”, adding a population’s edu- cational attainment distribution and its labour force or health status as additional dimensions to the conventional model. Human capital is in- creasingly considered an important driver of development and has a key role to play with regard to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
