Abstract
Academic teaching of operations management is usually done in a classroom, using textbooks and case studies to make students familiar with relevant concepts and models. Even though case studies enforce students to deal with real world problems, models and theories mostly remain very abstract. Therefore we want to present a project called Teaching and Learning Factory TLF, which is currently set up in Vienna. TLF is a real production facility, located at the campus of a technical college, where pneumatic cylinders are produced. By working in this facility students can see the impact of using various concepts and methods of operations and supply chain management.
