Abstract
The purpose of this chapter is to chart the origins of responsible global leadership (RGL) and to then discuss research questions that are most suited to be addressed by RGL scholars. We begin by tracing the origin domains of RGL: global, global leadership, and responsible leadership. These conceptualizations of the global context influenced a group of scholars to begin to study leadership in the global context, which in turn contributed to their founding of the field of global leadership. The authors underline how responsible global leaders can direct innovation processes toward ‘avoiding harm’ and ‘doing good.’ Authors and presenters represented over 50 countries. Thus, the literature of RGL is steadily growing, and it is important that it does so that knowledge that can be beneficial to those who hold positions of global responsibility can be shared with them so that they can carry out their mandates, fulfill their roles, and lead their organizations in humane ways.
