Abstract (German)

The project examines the role of language, culture and communication in Vienna-based migrant businesses run by entrepreneurs of Balkan descent. Its aim is to elucidate how such firms help to create multicultural zones of encounter and contribute to urban development in general, key themes being the commodification of cultural heritage and the upgrading of migrant economy hotspots in the city.
