Abstract (German)

Die Auftraggeber der Untersuchung wollten 2 Fragen zu Veränderungen im Personenflugverkehr bezogen auf den Standort Vienna Airport abklären. Als Auslöser dieser Veränderung werden 2 Maßnahmen angeführt, für deren Wirkungen Abschätzungen in Form von Prognosen angefertigt werden:
1. Die Gebührensenkung des Flughafens Wien Schwechat um 30%.
2. Die Tarifsenkung von traditionellen Airlines um durchschnittlich 20%.
Zu klären sind:
1. Welche volkswirtschaftlichen Effekte – insbesondere für den Wiener Raum – können aus diesen beiden Maßnahmen abgeleitet werden?  Kapitel 3
2. Welche groben einzelwirtschaftlichen Effekte ergeben sich dadurch für das Unternehmen Flughafen Wien AG?


Abstract (English)

The Austrian Airlines Group direct stakeholders raised two questions to be answered within this study. Which economic consequences are to be expected for

1. the Vienna region
2. for the Airport Vienna company

if the following condition applies:

1. airport charges would be lowered by 30%
2. traditional airlines would reduce their fares by 20% on average.

Starting point was the quantitative passenger volume at the airport Vienna. By the means of the official tourism statistics and other large scale visitor surveys the airport customers were assigned to different visitor categories. 75% were identified as local overnight passengers, 7% as overnight visitors staying with friends or relatives; the remaining 18% were identified as daytime visitors. The demand effects were analyzed in three scenarios and based on structural data from the Austrian Tourism Satellite Account and the Event-Model Austria. As the study results are not public more details are not allowed to be released here.
